Worldwake Spoilers Begin — New Jace Confirmed!

Update: Wizards ran a ‘Planeswalker Chase’ from Dec. 14th-19th in which they revealed the complete ‘Jace, the Mind Sculptor’

A sharp eyed individual noticed that www.parkage.com had listed five Worldwake Intro decks, and from them we’ve gained a few spoilers for the upcoming Magic set, Worldwake. Among them is a confirmation that we are indeed getting a new form for Jace Beleren, as Trick predicted in his big prediction article a few weeks back.

Pack d’Intro Worldwake : Crocs du chef de Sang (français)
Pack d’Intro Worldwake : Force brute (français)
Pack d’Intro Worldwake : Mitraille (français)
Pack d’Intro Worldwake : Royaumes Mystérieux (français)
Pack d’Intro Worldwake : Survol (français)

Here are some highlights of what was learned:

  • Smother — A previously powerful removal spell is being reprinted in Worldwake.
  • New Kicker variant — MaRo teased the new Kicker variant saying it was ‘kicker without [blank]’ and we believe that [blank] to be ‘limit.’ With the ‘multi-kick’ ability you can kick the spell multiple times, so long as you can pay the necessary cost.
  • Angel that is a Landfall Oblivion Ring — It looks like there is an angel that, when a land enters the battlefield, it will exile target permanent. And when the angel leaves play returns them all to the battlefield.
  • Kird ape style creatures — Creatures which become stronger based on what lands you control.
  • An unnamed sorcery which allows you to both draw a card and play an extra land on your turn.
  • Jace, Mind-Sculptor — The new Jace variant. We don’t know his colors yet, but his ultimate ability will allow you to exile your opponent’s library. And his incremental ability is to mill your opponent for some amount. We don’t know his color(s) or anything more as of now.

We are working on getting the English language versions of the intro pack descriptions which are the source of the new information though we have been using the French language ones and having them translated. As soon as we know more we’ll bring it you.

ManaNation was the first site to bring you information about ‘Worldwake’ and predict it as the name of the sequel to Zendikar.

Update: From the original understanding, we had been possibly been led to believe that Wizards would include a Mythic rare in the intro packs. Due to the comment below we removed that part. It was further confirmed by a tweet from @dailymtg saying, “(Monty) Worldwake Intro Packs will not contain mythic rares. Well, Unless there’s one in the booster pack that’s included, but that’s random”

  1. I don’t think that Wizards is including a Mythic Rare in intro packs.

The links above state that the decks include a foil rare, a non-foil rare, 7 uncommons and 32 commons/lands. Nowhere in there does it mention the inclusion of a Mythic Rare.

Furthermore, if you take a look as the official descriptions of previous Intro Packs, Wizards has a habit of mentioning other cards in the set (or previous sets) which would work great within the deck’s context. Yes, one of the decks above mention Vampire Nocturnus, but so did “Rise of the Vampires”, which came out in Zendikar, and did not include said Mythic.

Otherwise, the rest of what you’re saying seems accurate, and I’m quite excited for Worldwake.

  2. The inclusion of the new Jace is what led me to believe that it was the inclusion of Mythic rares, not the description of foil / non-foil.

  3. Actually the French text does not allude to a new man-land, but rather to a card that can turn a land into a creature. Still, lots of fun stuff in this set.
