Wizards today has announced ‘From the Vault: Relics.’ ManaNation reported on this product back in September when it was discovered through a registration at the US Patent and Trademark office, they provide scant details about the ‘relics’ and mimic their announcement for both previous of the From the Vault series. Most exciting is that this fifteen card pack will include a mythic rare from ‘Lights.’ Lights is the codename for the upcoming block’s first set, and this block is the one we expect to be an artifact theme.
From the Vault: Relics is to be released on August 27th, 2010, likely to again coincide with GenCon. The suggested price point is again $34.99 but expect that this will not be the case as short supply and high demand drive the price up making it unreasonable for casual purchasers.
Let the speculation begin as to what the cards contained within will be.
I’m excited for Relics as I love artifacts. I just found this site and had not heard any speculation that Lights might have an artifact theme but if it does that would be the best. I first got serious into magic when Mirrodin came out and my favorite decks to play are artifact-blue even it they are not my best built decks.
I wonder if it is too much to hope that we get an artifact planeswalker in Lights block?
Karn!!!!! Planeswalker
judging from the art we saw today, i’d say Sol Ring is in
Confirmed cards:
Karn, Silver Golem (creature, not PW)
Masticore
Mox Diamond (worth the price of the whole box)
Memory Jar
*an unknown Mythic Rare from ‘Lights’ (Scars of Mirrodin)
**the Mythic from Scars might concievably be Karn himself, but most people are expecting a new Planeswalker card for him, if he’s even in the set at all, and the other three cards are completely unlikely to be in the set, being as they are, busted.
***the sixth card, the one depicted as a ring containing a sun, has to be Sol Ring.
Not only does the picture fit perfectly, but also in Rise of the Eldrazi they printed All is Dust, which would make it highly unlikely that Nevinyrral’s Disk was in FTV:R. It just wouldn’t be as exciting now that it can be compared to a real Mythic colorless ‘cleanup’ spell. Nevinyrral’s Disk was previously suggested as a card that could match the picture given.
Since Mox Diamond is in, all other Moxes are out. Chrome wasn’t ‘Mythic’ quality, and the other 5 would be redundant, not to mention, broken in a thousand pieces.
