Monday, Oct. 19th 2009

• ManaNation – Ep. 87 – Pro Tour Austin – I interviewed Mark Rosewater (with Worldwake spoiler/hints) and talked briefly with Brian Kibler.
• StarCityGames – Abe Sargent – The Greatest Casual Screw of All Time – Abe turns back time and discusses two of the rules changes from 6th edition.
• ManaNation – New Magic Online Prototype – Trick got a sneak peek at the future of Magic Online.

Tuesday, Oct. 20th 2009

• ChannelFireball – Luis Scott-Vargas – Rebooting my Draft Strategy – Lots of interesting draft strategy discussion.

Wednesday, Oct. 21st, 2009

• ChannelFireball – David Ochoa – Bleeding BBQ Sauce, a PT Austin Report *21st* – A great tournament report from Pro Tour Austin.
• ManaNation – Magic the Classroom – Choices Park 1 – Dan breaks out his lesson on choices as the first part in a series on sealed deck.

Thursday, Oct. 22nd, 2009

• StarCityGames- Sheldon Menery – EDH Deckbuilding Theory – Though we had our own EDH Primer a few weeks ago, this is a great breakdown of how to go about building your first EDH deck.
• ManaNation – Magic Economics – Goal Setting in Magic – Kelly Reid of Quiet Speculation explains the importance of setting your goals, both financiall and competitively.
• StarkingtonPost – Interview with Pro Tour-Austin Champ Brian Kibler – There were a number of Kibler interviews posted this week and I think this one was the most entertaining and interesting of them.

Friday, Oct. 23rd, 2009

• StarCityGames- Max Knowlan – My Opponent Disqualified Me… – A few weeks ago the rules changed to allow TOs and Judges to play in certain events. Max does a good breakdown of how and why.
• TCGPlayer – Noah Whinston – Bringing down the Dragonmaster – With the victory at Pro Tour Austin, Rubin Zoo (as played by Kibler) is going to be big at the upcoming Extended metagame for PT San Juan. Noah looks at its weaknesses and considers how to beat it.

Due to Pro Tour Austin and a lot of work catching up this week I didn’t get to sift through forums too much this week, hopefully after Grand Prix Tampa I can go back to my forum lurking ways. We’re in a definite slow down in rumors. Worldwake is in a lull which will pick up around the new year unless something unexpected leaks.

Next week we should see the 2010 Grand Prix Schedule released. And that will set off a cascade of other tournament dates as it will allow the StarCityGames 5ks and the recently announced TCGPlayer 5k dates to be finalized. That will generate a great deal of buzz as we see where the game will be going next year.
