This Week in Magic – #7

Another great week of Magic content. I was afraid it would end up being slow, but after Monday the sites all picked up. Enjoy!

Sunday, 12/6/09

  • ChannelFireball.com – Dueling for Duals – While the tournament was only meh, I found the deck and concepts LSV discusses to be quite interesting.

Monday, 12/7/2009

  • Planeswalker Stronghold (blog) – Phyrexia: Past, Present and Future – A new blog I picked up a week or so ago, he put out this very interesting post about the stories of Phyrexia, and considering where the next block is going, all too interesting.
  • WrongWayGoBack (blog) – Loaming Cobra – A very interesting Extended deck concept, I’m not sure solid the deck is, but the idea and list were enough to earn a bookmark.
  • StarkPo – Funniest Extended Deck of All Time – Another Japanese innovation, it poses a lot of interesting ideas and is indeed rather humorous.

  • ManaNation – There are No Bad Cards – Kelly weighs in on why speculators can’t afford to overlook ‘bad’ cards.
  • StarCityGames – The Subgames of Magic – I love what Gavin V. is doing here and what he discusses. I’m not 100% on the concepts, but he’s looking in a lot of the right places and drawing a lot of great conclusions.

Friday, 12/11/09

  • ManaNation – Drafting with JBoots #7 – Another great draft video.
  • ManaNation – Off the Beaten Path – Winter Blunderland – A fun tourney report from Sam for the Massachusetts ‘2009s’
  • Tapped – Tapped by the Enemy – Again I’m a bit biased on this one especially as I helped Andres with some of the ideas for this week’s comic. But good stuff none-the-less.
  • Wizards – An Open Letter to Spike – I just really enjoyed what Tom LaPille was saying in this one, not particularly strategic, but an entertaining read.
  • ChannelFireball – Exchange of Information – An excellent article from a consummate pro. I greatly enjoyed this article.

And there we have another week of awesome Magic content. A few weeks ago I published the full list of Magic sites I read, I’ve dropped a few and added a few others, so be sure to check in next week because I’ll be providing an update to the list of Magic sites.

Stay warm!
