Duels of the Planeswalkers coming to PC & PS3 in 2010

Today on their website Wizards of the Coast announced that the wildly popular Duels of the Planeswalker Xbox Arcade game will be expanding to the PC and the Playstation 3 in 2010. This isn’t too big of a surprise as the game proved startlingly popular on the Xbox, racking up over 300,000 downloads in the first few months.

After having just released an expansion for the Xbox version of the game, today’s announcement included news that they would be producing two more expansions to provide players with more cards and more decks to play with. These expansions will be released in Spring and Summer of 2010. The timing is that Duels of the Planeswalkers will reach the desktop in Summer of 2010, and it will reach the PS3 in Fall of 2010. With a Japanese PS3 version coming in 2011.

And finally, of interest, is that the desktop release of the game will involve a bonus which Wizards is unable to reveal to us at this time. We don’t feel comfortable even guessing at what it could be, so we’ll leave it alone.

However if the expansions are going to be overseen by Matt Place, who was responsible for the original game and the expansion, then I think it is safe that they will continue to be exciting and well done expansions for the players to enjoy.
