  1. Since nobody else has commented yet, I really enjoyed the draft plus videos. This information is very valuable to players, and I do appreciate the time and money invested into these. Keep up the good work. Love to see more.

  2. diabolist was the correct pick for you instead of that enchantment. i also think you chose some very questionable hands instead of taking a mulligan.

  3. Thats attack in game 1 of round 3 was soooo bad, with your Ranger, if you didn’t you would have shut off geopede’s attack (baring he didn’t have a land) then could have killed Scute Mob, and made your attack for next turn with a 5/5 better and still had more wolves, I dun know how much it would have mattered with him having a 3/3 forestwalker that turn, but it just seems like the better play.

  4. @DanO: Glad you are enjoying them and thanks for the kind words.

@gherrin: I think the Soul Stair Expedition shores up the late game better than the Diabolist. It allows me to block profitably, which is hard to do in this format and the one more ally that doesn’t really do much other than be a 3/2 body and in a lucky situation get me a wolf doesn’t seem as good.

I mean feel free to counter argue as I would love to hear why you think he was the better pick. I’d also appreciate an example for the mulligan issues you mentioned. I do find mulliganing to be a weak spot in my game.

@Hovertical: The attack was made because the Hellfire Mongrel was putting me on a pretty fast clock of at the most 5 turns which it would have been hard to draw into enough to kill him with out being as aggressive as possible. I couldn’t afford to hold cards against his horde of creatures either in order to turn the mongrel off. Not sure if I could have won either way though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone and keep it coming.

  5. Round 2 game 2 seems to be missing.

Round 3 Game 1 you leave up 2 green and say “… and if he kills the nighthawk we can throw up the cobra trap…”.

This ofcourse is a mistake on your part. Cobra trap only ‘activates’ when a NONcreature permanent was destroyed. Vampire Nighthawk obviously is a CREATURE.

Round 3 game 2 ends after 3.24min? What is that about?

Thanks for the draft recap and keep practicing and reading cards :D

Oh, btw: Cobra Trap is awful. Don’t play it EVER again ;)

  6. Thx for posting these. I love seeing drafts. My question, tho: why are you playing the cobra trap? 6 man for 4 1/s does not seem good. Seeker or even Joraga would’ve been better I think. Anyway, thx again :)

  7. @Ult1mate: Rnd 2 Game 2 never happened. Due to server issues my opponent timed out and I just moved on to the finals. There should be a screen at the end of the video stating that.

You are correct about the trap. I probably just wanted it to be playable so I ignored that part of the card. Heh.

I hadn’t noticed the video was cut off. I will be correcting it as soon as I can.

@Matt: As you can read above I abhorrently thought is was way better than it was by ignoring one of the stipulations. In hindsight I probably should not have played it; however, I don’t think it is unplayable. A UG deck with few removal and few tricks could probably benefit from a card like Cobra Trap.

Thanks again for the feedback eveyone.

  8. The attack with ranger really was terrible. If you were afraid of mongrel you could have started stockpiling cards against its burn within a few turns; attacking with ranger forced you to make some really terrible blocks that cost you far more in the long run.

There was very little chance that he would double block as you hoped because there was no real incentive for him to do so – plus, you clearly had something.
