Coimbra and China win in Rome

Andre Coimbra wins World Championships in Rome

Andre Coimbra of Portugal defeated David Reitbauer to become the 2009 World Champion of Magic. It was an epic battle between Jund and Naya style decks, with Naya coming out on top. Andre is a long time pro, and has been in the Top 8 of Worlds before four years ago in 2005. He has two GP 2nd places to his name. Congratulations to Andre!

China defeated Austria in the finals, coming from the shadows they were definitely the dark horse of the competition. But they were up to the task and they were able to win. They won Legacy 2-1, Extended 2-1 while losing Standard 2-1. Congratulations to China on its team victory.
